Radio Amateur Callbook CD ROM 2003
On this CD ROM, there are two Windows (CALLBOOK.EXE and
CALLBK16.EXE) and one DOS version (CALLDOS.EXE) of the Radio Amateur
Callbook CD ROM 2003.
IMPORTANT: CALLBOOK.EXE is a 32 bit program, running with Windows 95,
Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT 4.0, 2000 and XP.
For Windows 3.1x or Windows NT 3.5x, use CALLBK16.EXE.
All programs can be started directly from the CD ROM, no installation
is needed. However, an installation program is included for your convenience.
There are two setup programs (SETUP.EXE and SETUP16.EXE) to
install the Windows icons. Use SETUP16.EXE for Windows 3.1x, Windows NT 3.51.
Use SETUP.EXE for Windows 9x, Windows NT 4.0, 2000 and XP. With this version
of the setup program, you can copy the program or program and data to your
hard disk.
Installation (Windows 3.1x):
1. In the program manager, choose "Run" in the "File" menu
2. Click "Browse"
3. Select your cd rom drive.
4. Select "SETUP16.EXE" and click "Ok".
5. The setup program starts and prompts you for a group name.
6. Use the default name "Radio Amateur Callbook" or type in a name you prefer.
7. Click "Create Icon" to create the icons.
8. The setup program ends.
Installation (Windows 95, 98, ME, NT 4.0, 2000 and XP):
1. Make sure that you have removed all floppy diskettes from the floppy
drives.
2. Place the Radio Amateur Callbook cd rom in your cd rom drive.
3. Click the "Start" button on the Windows 95 Task bar.
4. Move the mouse pointer to the "Settings" selection and click on
"Control Panel"
5. Double click on the "Add/Remove Programs" icon in the Control Panel
group box.
6. Click the "Install" button in the "Install/Uninstall" dialog box.
7. Click the "Next" button in the Install Program From Floppy disk or
cd rom dialog box.
8. The installation program will select "SETUP.EXE" from the cd rom.
9. The setup program starts and prompts you for a group name.
10. Use the default name "RAC" or type in a name you prefer.
11. Choose one of the Installation options:
a. Run from CD ROM: This will just create two icons in the "Start" menu.
b. Copy the program to the hard disk: Copies the program file and the
text files into the directory you stated in the "Copy to" field.
With this option, the program will start faster while consuming
just about 2 MB on your hard disk.
c. Copy program and data to the hard disk: This copies all necessary
files into the directory you stated in the "Copy to" field. With
this option, you get the fastest access to the callbook.
12. Click "Go" to start the process.
13. After the setup program finishes, click on "Exit" to end the program.
Please note:
i. As always, you have to be an administrator to use the
installation program if you use Windows NT, 2000 or XP. However,
in most cases the program will run directly from CD ROM even if you
do not have adminstrative rights.
ii. As the option "Run from CD ROM" creates icons only, no uninstall will
be available when using this option.
Uninstallation (Windows 95, 98, ME, NT 4.0, 2000 and XP):
1. Open the "Control Panel"
2. Open "Add/Remove Programs"
3. Select "Radio Amateur Callbook"
4. Choose "Uninstall"
5. In the uninstall program, click on "Start" to start the uninstall
process.
